The Best Things to Do in Sorrento, Italy
Sorrento is a cute coastal town in between Naples and the Amalfi Coast. It’s a hub for visiting the towns on the Amalfi Coast since it has ferries and busses running there regularly, but it also has a bit of it’s own charm. Sorrento is known for growing lemons, beautiful beaches, and it’s amazing mountain views. Most people to travel to Italy don’t stay in Sorrento for too long, but we think it’s definitely a town worth visiting.
How to get to Sorrento
Most people will come to Sorrento from Naples and the easiest way to get there is via the Circumvesuviana train. The Circumvesuviana runs from Napoli Centrale to Sorrento and takes you through the mountains of Southern Italy. If you’re going to Pompeii or Herculaneum ruins, this train stops right there as well. The roads through the mountains can get pretty curvy and can make even someone with a rock hard stomach get motion sick, so we definitely recommend taking the Circumvesvuiana to visit Sorrento!
Where to Stay
Even though accommodations in Sorrento are cheaper than on the Amalfi Coast, they are still pretty pricey. We actually stayed one town over from Sorrento in Sant’Agnello and had an amazing experience for a great price! We stayed at Unconventional Sorrento and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the area on a budget. The prices were great, the rooms were super clean, and we had an epic view of the mountains from our balcony!

We really only spent one day in Sorrento because we were doing a day trip to Positano, but we did feel like we saw everything we wanted to see there.
