The Ultimate Guide to Curaçao's Pietermaai District
The Pietermaai District is probably the most trendy part of Curaçao. It’s where a lot of the hotels are located as well as a great selection of restaurants and bars. Pietermaai is very walkable and you can get to Willemstad’s two towns Punda and Otrabanda very easily from there. We spent a lot of time in Pietermaai this trip and we loved exploring this little historic area of Curaçao.
Where to Stay
One of our favorite hotels in the area is Scuba Lodge. Scuba Lodge has a gorgeous ocean front, beautiful colorful buildings, and lots of palm trees. The property is so large that exploring the grounds itself was an adventure! Our favorite thing about Scuba Lodge was the infinity pool which overlooks the sea. It’s a great place to relax and has such an amazing view. The rooms are very simple and clean and their restaurant on the beach has a view that can’t be beat.
Another hotel in Pietermaai we love is BijBlauw. BijBlauw is a boutique hotel with a very earthy vibe. The decor is very minimalist and a lot of exposed wood. The room was cozy and had such a homey feel. We’re not usually the types of people who hang out in hotel rooms all day but this was definitely the kind of room we can see ourselves relaxing in. BijBlauw also has a concept store next store with gorgeous items that mimic the style of the hotel. Their restaurant has a lot of vegan options and as well as beautiful view of the sea.
