Copenhagen is honestly one of our favorite European cities. We love the vibes, the atmosphere, how walkable it is, and how kind all the locals are. The city center isn’t huge, but there is actually so much to do and see and so many different neighborhoods you can explore. We spent 48 hours in Copenhagen and wanted to make it easy for y’all to find the best things to do if you only have a few days to visit the city!

Where to Stay in Copenhagen

We stayed at the Coco Hotel in Copenhagen and we loved it there so much! The hotel decor was beautiful and so vibey. It was also in the perfect location, less than a 10 minute walk from the Copenhagen Central station. We took the train to Copenhagen from Stockholm so this was exactly the location we needed haha. Every day from 5-6pm there is a free wine hour for hotel guests in the courtyard which is just another amazing perk. I believe they also had free bikes to rent if you wanted to explore the city by bike too! Coco Hotel was one of our favorite hotels we’ve stayed at in such a long time so we highly recommend staying there when you visit!

How to Get Around Copenhagen

The best ways to get around Copenhagen are by bike or walking! Biking is very popular in the city, you will see people biking all over the city and bike lanes everywhere. It kind of reminds us of Amsterdam in a way where biking the city can seem intense to daunting haha. But if you trust yourself cycling then I think you will have fun exploring the city by bike! We decided to walk everywhere and it was so easy & convenient. We walked everywhere we wanted to do, see, and eat and we didn’t have any issues at all.

Kastellet

  • Walk down the main shopping street Strøget - Here you will find tons of shops ranging from name brands, to local stores, as well as shops, restaurants, & bars!

  • Chill in picturesque Nyhavn - Nyhavn is probably the area of Copenhagen you imagine when you think of the city. It’s very popular and picturesque, for a good reason — it’s gorgeous! We loved this area so much and it’s so nice to sit by the canal and grab a drink. We went to Nyhavns Kroen to have a cocktail and city by the canal!

  • Visit the Round Tower - The Round Tower is a 17th century tower with a observatory that had amazing views of the city. I believe it was around $5 per person to enter and we thought it was worth it and so cool! The views from the top were so beautiful, you can even see Sweden if you look into the distance!

  • Spend some time in Tivoli - Tivoli is probably the most iconic thing you can do in Copenhagen! It’s the world’s 2nd oldest amusement park and there is so much more to do inside than just ride and roller coasters. I believe it was $20 per person to enter and the rides are a separate fee. But there are other ticket & tour options as well, you can see what works best for you!

  • Visit the Little Mermaid Statue - Hans Christen Andersson who wrote The Little Mermaid in Danish and spent some time in Copenhagen, so there is a statue to commemorate that. The statue was actually very crowded so we would recommend going early if you want to avoid crowds.

  • Explore Kastellet - is a public park and star shaped fortress from the 17th century. It’s free to enter and fun to explore. It really gives you that medieval vibe. It’s also very near to the Little Mermaid Statue so you can do both the same day.

  • Check out the Kings Garden - The Kings Garden is a public park that’s great to spend some time in on a nice day. On the grounds is also the beautiful Rosenberg Castle.
