The Best Things to do in Beacon, New York
Beacon is probably our favorite small town we’ve ever been to. It was literally named the “Coolest Small Town in America” by Budget Travel in 2018, so that just goes to show you how much it has to offer. This “hipster” town is only about 2 hours away from New York City and there is an abundance of things to do. We do trips to the Hudson Valley all the time, Beacon is always our number one recommendation for a perfect weekend getaway.
How to get to Beacon
If you’re lucky enough to own a car in NYC (like us) you can make the 2 hour drive to Beacon. But Beacon’s location to the Metro North is what makes it ideal for a quick getaway. It only takes a little longer than an hour to get to here on the Metro North which makes it accessible to everyone.
Where to Stay
We stayed at an Airbnb not to far from Main Street (where all the shops and restaurants are located) which was perfect for us. We did visit the grounds at The Roundhouse just to explore and they were absolutely beautiful so if that’s in your price range, we would recommend staying there.

We actually visited during the weekday so a lot of things were closed (like Dia:Beacon) so we will definitely be making the trip back to check out the things we missed.
