Portugal had some amazing vegan options! We found vegan versions of the local cuisines, as well as just general vegan options in all 3 areas of Portugal we visited. We found it pretty easy to be vegan in Portugal, and since we did our research beforehand we didn’t have any trouble finding an array of plant-based options. Keep on reading for our ultimare vegan guide to Portugal!
Porto
DaTerra - It’s a chain that offers a buffet for €10. Here you can also try a vegan pastel de nata, the famous Portugal pastry!
Brasão Aliados - here you can try a veggie version of a famous Porto dish, Francesinha
Outra Espécie - a vegetarian tapas restaurant! A lot of the dishes were vegan or could be made vegan.
Noshi Cafe - delicious vegan breakfast options and coffees
Cruel Ristorante - a modern concept restaurant with a cool twist on food. You have to go there to see what we mean! They have vegan & non-vegan options.
Mercador Cafe - a cafe with some vegan options for brunch & lunch, we got avocao toast here and it was great! Also a great place to go with non-vegans as they have both options.
Fabrica Coffee - the best coffee in Porto! They had non-dairy milk as well.
Lisbon
Dear Breakfast - a cute, trendy cafe that has a few locations in Lisbon! They have great coffee and a bunch of different vegan breakfast/lunch options.
Veganata - where you can try a vegan version of the famous pastel de nata! They have a few locations as well
Ao 26 Vegan Food Project - An amazing all vegan restaurant that serves plant-based versions of traditional Portuguese dishes! One of our favorite spots of the whole trip. It was a little expensive compared to the rest of Portugal but 100% worth it.
Time Out Market Lisboa - there as a few stalls inside that serve vegan options! We found vegan sushi, and a few others from different vendors. Just walk around and check the menus.
1300 Taberna - some of the best vegan ravioli we’ve ever had! It’s located in LX factory so if you are in the area, we deff recommend checking it out. It’s also a good place to go with non-vegans as I think the vegan ravioli was the only vegan dish on the menu.
Manjerica Lisboa - a delicious breakfast spot with tons of vegan options! We got tofu scramble & vegan pancakes!
The Green Affair - another amazing all vegan restaurant in Lisbon!
The Algarve
Gandhi Palace (Albufeira) - delicious Indian food in Albufeira! We visited the Algarve during the off season so a lot of restaurants we’re open, but Gandhi Palace was and they had tons of vegan options!
Al-Gharb Coffee Roasters (Albufeira) - delicious coffee in Albufeira! I believe they also had some vegan pastries as well.
Vida Leve Vegetariano (Faro) - a delicious vegetarian lunch buffet! Almost all the options were vegan.
Veggie Cafe (Albufeira) - we didn’t get a chance to go here but heard great things! Make sure you check it out when you visit.
