Vegan Guide to Pittsburgh
We didn’t really expect to find a lot of vegan options when we visited Pittsburgh, but we were pleasantly surprised! Pittsburgh had a lot of plant-based food options in all different types of cuisine! We also didn’t see a lot of articles on how to eat vegan in Pittsburgh so we thought we would make one in case anyone else is looking too. So here are our favorite vegan spots in Pittsburgh!
Aladdin’s Eatery
Location: 5878 Forbes Ave. (Squirrel Hill)
Our recommendations:
Fattoush Salad - a traditional Lebanese salad with lots of spices, lemon dressing, and pita chips! I honestly talk about this salad often and is a must-try when visiting Pittsburgh.
Hummus Appetizer - you can’t go wrong when it comes to hummus!
Viridis Cafe
Location: 1506 E Carson St. (South Side)
Our recommendations:
Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich - as a vegan I don’t get to eat biscuits very often, but since Viridis is an all vegan cafe I knew I had to order it! It was absolutely delicious.
Cashew Chick’n Caesar Sandwich - I hope this item is still on the menu because it was amazing! I think they change their menu occasionally so if you spot this item make sure you order it!
Bae Bae’s Kitchen
Location: 951 Liberty Ave. (Downtown)
Our recommendation:
Crispy Tofu Rice or Noodle Bowl - Think of Bae Bae’s as a local, Korean-inspired Chipotle. You pick what grains, protein, & toppings you want and they make it fresh for you! The flavors here were absolutely amazing.
Condado Tacos
Location: 971 Liberty Ave. (but they also have a few other locations)
Our recommendations:
Jackpot Taco - a vegan Koren BBQ-inspired taco packed with flavor!
Build Your Own Taco/Bowl/etc. - Condado also has the option to build your own taco or bowl with vegan proteins!
The Milkshake Factory
Location: 314 Fifth Ave. (but they also have a few more locations)
Our recommendation:
Dairy-Free Cookies & Cream Milkshake - They have a few Dairy Free options for milkshakes but you can also substitute non-dairy milk in any of their regular menu items as well!
Millie’s Ice Cream
Location: 246 Forbes Ave. (but they also have a few other locations)
Our recommendation:
Dairy-Free Golden Milk - but they also have a bunch of dairy-free flavors that change seasonally!
And that’s it for our vegan guide to Pittsburgh! There were even more restaurants with vegan options but these ones were the standouts for us. Let us know if we missed any plant-based spots in Pittsburgh and we will hit them up next time!
