Vegan Guide to Chicago
Chicago’s vegan scene is one the best we have ever seen! Almost every food establishment we walked passed had a vegan option, and we were on a mission to get some vegan deep dish pizza! We were only in Chicago for 24 hours in 2020, but we have gone back recently and tried more vegan places. So here are our recommendations of vegan places you have to visit!
Sam & Gertie’s
This vegan Jewish deli is one of our favorite meals we’ve ever eaten! It’s a MUST TRY when visiting Chicago.
Our recommendation:
Vegan lox on Challah - a jewish staple that is usually hard to find vegan! Sam & Gertie’s nailed it.
Chicago Diner
Our recommendation:
Vegan Milkshake - one of the best vegan milkshakes we’ve ever had!
Gino’s East
Our recommendations:
Vegan Deep Dish - Gino’s vegan deep dish even has vegan cheese (some vegan options only have sauce) so you feel like you’re getting the traditional deep dish experience!
Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat
Our recommendation:
Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls - mouth watering & delicious! We’ve never had a vegan option like this before and it was *chef’s kiss*
Standup Burgers
Another amazing burger spot in Chicago! Our recommendation:
The O.G. - One of the best vegan burgers we’ve ever had. Chicago’s vegan scene is top tier!
Lou Malnati’s
Our recommendations:
Vegan Deep Dish - our friends ordered this one for us but I believe you can just ask for deep dish with no cheese!
Stan’s Donuts & Coffee
Our recommendations:
Vegan Sugar Donut - I find that a lot of vegan donuts are made out of sourdough, but Stan’s vegan donuts taste just like a normal donut.
Iced Latte with Oat Milk - Can’t go wrong with that order!
Jeni’s Ice Cream
Our recommendations:
Cold Brew with Coconut Cream - tasted exactly like coconut coffee ice cream!
Do-Rite Donuts
Our recommendations:
Vegan Spiced Maple Chai
Vegan Orange Olive Oil
