Top 10 Things to do in Myrtle Beach!
Myrtle Beach was a place both of us had visited as kids but we hadn’t been back in a while. We’re so glad we got to visit again as adults (and together as a couple) because we had such a good time! You might think of Myrtle Beach as just a beach destination, but there is actually so much more to do in the town! Myrtle Beach is nicknamed “The Grand Strand” because it has over 60 miles of coastline & beaches. We had an amazing few days exploring, trying the local breweries and Southern food, and seeing some wild animals in their natural habitat. Keep on reading to see our top things to do in Myrtle Beach!
Where to Stay in Myrtle Beach
There are a few different areas of Myrtle Beach that you can stay in, we stayed near North Myrtle Beach in the Marina Inn at the Grande Dunes. The hotel property was absolutely beautiful, the staff was amazing, and we felt like the hotel was in a great location! We loved sitting by the pool whenever we had a chance, and relaxing at night in the hot tub. We would 100% recommend staying here when visiting Myrtle Beach!

How to Get Around Myrtle Beach
The best way to get around Myrtle Beach is by renting a car. The town is not really walkable and we didn’t see any public transportation options. We would say you definitely need a car when visiting here so make sure you reserve before you arrive. We love renting cars with Expedia because they are trustworthy, easy to book, and we have never had an issue when we’ve used them!

Top 10 Things to do in Myrtle Beach
Visit Myrtle Beach - The beach is the main attraction of the town and we can totally see why. The water is clear and pretty blue for an East Coast beach, and like we said above, there is 60 miles of coastline to chose from!
Go on a Dolphin Watching Tour with Blue Wave Adventures - We had no idea that there are wild Coastal Dolphins in Myrtle Beach! We loved going on the Blue Wave Adventures tour because the boat was carbon neutral, and the captain talked a lot about sustainability and the wild life during our tour. Seeing dolphins is never guaranteed since they are wild animals, but we were lucky enough to spot a few on our tour!
Walk the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk - The Boardwalk stretches along the beach and has a bunch of cute souvenir stores, restaurants, bars, and surf shops.
Play Some Mini Golf - Golfing in general is one of the main attractions of Myrtle Beach, but if you don’t want to go to the golf course or driving range, there are a ton if mini golf places to choose from! We always loved mini golf and there are so many options in Myrtle Beach you could go to a different one every day if you wanted!
Visit Huntington Beach State Park - The entrance to this park is $8 per person and we think it’s 100% worth it! The marshland is a natural habitat for alligators and we saw one almost immediately after entering the park! You can also spot local bird species, crabs, oysters, and fish as well. There is also a beach that you can only access from the park as well as some camp sites inside the park as well!
Ride the SkyWheel - The SkyWheel is a giant ferris wheel on the Myrtle Beach boardwalk. You can see it from nearly anywhere on the boardwalk so you won’t miss it. The ride is $17 per person but you ride for about 15-20 minutes! We really enjoyed the views from up top and thought it was a fun activity that you can stop and do while strolling on the boardwalk!
Try some local breweries - We personally loved Crooked Hammock Brewery and Inlet Beer Garden! Both had amazing local beers you could choose from.
Walk Around Barefoot Landing - Barefoot Landing is an outdoor village on a lake in North Myrtle Beach where you can find tons of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. It’s really nice to walk around there during the afternoon or early evening and pop into a some local shops. You can also spot some turtles along the lake as well!
Buy a souvenir at the Gay Dolphin - The Gay Dolphin is a local gift shop on the boardwalk that has been around since the 1940s! It’s famous for it’s collection of seashells and eclectic beach-themed items. You’ll definitely want to pop in here and at the very least look around.
Stroll along Murrell’s Inlet Marsh Walk - Murrell’s Inlet is located in a historic fishing village and is a 1/2 miles long walk along the Marsh! We saw wild goats while on our walk and there are a bunch of bars and restaurants in the area as well.
