Best Things to do in Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls is the biggest city in South Dakota, but by our New York City standards, we would call it a cute small town haha. We only stayed in Sioux Falls for one night, but we can’t sit still, so we saw as much as we could while we were there. We feel like we got to see a lot of the city in the less than 24 hours that we were there, so you probably only need a day or two to see it all. But if you happen to stop by Sioux Falls on a road trip across the USA, we highly recommend it!
How Is Sioux Falls Handling Covid-19?
To be honest, the state of South Dakota as a whole is not handling the pandemic in the safest way possible in our opinion. There is no mask mandate in the state, which means masks are not required. Most employees at businesses and restaurants in Sioux Falls were wearing masks, but hardly any locals or tourists were wearing them. We were some of the only people wearing masks while walking around, so if that makes you uncomfortable, maybe avoid South Dakota for the time being.
Where to Stay in Sioux Falls
We stayed at Staybridge Suites Sioux Falls Southwest, which we were told is a brand new hotel that just opened this year in 2020. You could tell the hotel was brand new which was nice, and the room we stayed also had an in-unit kitchen. The location was about 5 miles from the downtown area, which isn’t too bad, but if you prefer walking around & not driving, we would recommend staying somewhere in Downtown Sioux Falls. As far as COVID-19 precautions go, Staybridge wasn’t as obvious about their cleanliness policies as some other hotels we stayed at during this trip. There were safety measures in place but it wasn’t enforced as strictly as some other hotels we stayed at. Basically, if you want to stay somewhere new and relaxed, then Staybridge Suites is a great place for you.

The LGBTQ Scene in Sioux Falls
There wasn’t much of an LGBTQ scene in Sioux Falls, but we didn’t expect there to be. We were pleasantly surprised to see the inclusive Pride Flag waving outside of Bread & Circus where we went for dinner. It made us feel comfortable going there & being ourselves. Sometimes little things like that can make all the difference!
