Top 10+ Things to do in Milos, Greece!
We visited Milos this summer for a family wedding, and we absolutely fell in love. Milos is so different than any other Greek Island we’ve been to. There is so much more nature in Milos, and some of our favorite beaches we’ve ever been to in Greece. Compared to some other Greek Islands we visited, Milos was less crowded (and we thought) more unique. We spent 5 days in Milos and we feel like we did a lot with our time there so keep reading to see what we think are the top things to do on the island!
Where to Stay in Milos
We stayed in a local town near the port called Triovasalos. We stayed there because it was more affordable than staying in the port town of Adamantas, but also because that is the town where the family of the wedding we were attending was from. Triovasalos is a cute local town, and it was walkable to a few areas with shops and restaurants. Other areas we would recommend staying in are Adamantas, Trypiti, and Plaka. All have things to do and are nearby to public transportation.

How to Get Around Milos
There are a few options for getting around the island. We chose to use the bus since we were familiar with how the buses run on Greek Islands because we visited the year before. The bus was €1.80 for each ride which we thought was extremely affordable. The bus also went to a lot of different areas on the island so we felt like we saw almost everything we wanted to.
The other ways you can get around Milos are by renting a car, motorbike, or ATV. Most cars in Milos (and Greece in general) are manual so if you don’t know how to drive a manual car, you will find it difficult to rent an automatic one. Also automatic cars tend to be larger in size and more expensive. The streets in Milos are very narrow so we wouldn’t recommend getting a big car.
If you can drive a motorbike or ATV that would be the best option! Just be careful because Milos has a lot of hills and sharp turns. If you aren’t skilled in driving a motorbike or ATV, it can be very dangerous. That’s why we chose to take the bus haha.
Top Things to Do in Milos
Visit the town of Pollonia - Pollonia is a fishing village located on the northeast part of the island. We loved this town so much that if we could go back to Milos, we would stay here. It’s small, but there are cute restaurants, a public beach, and epic views of the Mediterranean Sea. We walked around the town and got lost in the narrow streets that were lined with bougainvilleas. Definitely one of our favorite areas of the island!
Check out the Papafragas Caves & Beach - Papafragas is on the way to Pollonia, so you can stop on your way there or on your way back. It’s an area known for it’s cave formations, and if you’re brave enough to hike down, you can go swimming in the natural pools. We didn’t want to hike down because it looked dangerous, but if you keep walking further you will find an arched rock formation and a black sand beach!
Spend the day at Paliochori Beach - This was our favorite beach on the island! Paliochori is located on volcanic rock, so the area has a faint smell of sulfur. Our favorite parts were the sunbeds, the crystal clear blue water, and the restaurant on the beach called Sirocco. We loved swimming here and wished we had more time so we could go back again!
Visit the fishing village of Mandrakia - Mandrakia is a charming, colorful, fishing village in Milos. It’s famous for the restaurant Medusa which has had patrons like the King of the Netherlands and Justin Bieber eat there. The views are beautiful from Mandrakia and there is a nearby beach that we loved swimming in called Tourkothalassa (just know you have to hike down to get there!). This town is small do you won’t be able to spend a whole day here, but it’d definitely worth the visit to go to Medusa alone.
Get lost in the streets of Plaka - Plaka is a beautiful town up on a hill. Besides the port town of Adamantas, it’s the most popular town on the island. Here you will find a bunch of restaurants, local shops, and bars. Plaka Castle is also a great place to watch the sunset. Plaka is a must see when visiting Milos so make sure you add it to your list!
Swim in the famous Sarakiniko Beach - Sarakiniko is probably the most popular thing to do in Milos. People say the rock formations around it look like the moon, and the water is crystal clear & blue. Make sure you get there early as it gets crowded fast.
Spend the say at Fyriplaka Beach - Fyriplaka is another beautiful beach in Milos You have to walk down to get there, but once you are there it’s gorgeous. The beach is surrounded by large rocks and the water is clear and blue. There is also a nearby beach called Tsigrado and it’s definitely possible to do both the same day.
Explore the port town of Adamantas - Adamantas is the first thing you see when you arrive in Milos by ferry. It’s the port town so there is a lot going on — tons of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. This port town was not as lively as other port towns we’ve been to in Paros & Naxos for example, but there is still a lot to do. Also if you take the bus, all routes depart and arrive back to Adamantas, so you will be there a lot haha. Adamantas is definitely a must visit, but you can see it all in one day or even half a day.
Walk around the town of Trypiti - Trypiti is a small local town with a strip of restaurants. It’s quaint and cute and on the way to the larger, more populated town of Plaka. The restaurants in Trypiti were stellar, and we went back to that area a few times. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset because it’s high up on top of a hill.
