We visited Los Cabos for the first time this year, and it quickly became one of our favorite places ever! Los Cabos has everything you could ever want and need in a destination: beautiful hotels, delicious food, gorgeous beaches, unique experiences, and all at affordable prices! Los Cabos is located at the southern tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula in Mexico, and is comprised of the 2 areas: Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, and the area in between both cities. We spent 5 days in Los Cabos and have the trip of a lifetime. Keep on reading to see our favorite things to do, see and eat while you’re there!

Where to Stay in Los Cabos

During our trip we stayed at 2 different hotels. The first one was the Hacienda Del Mar, and the second was the Corazon Resort & Spa. The Corazon was located in the downtown Cabo San Lucas area so it was close to nightlife and restaurants, and the beach on the property was swimmable and gorgeous! We also had a private hot tub on our balcony which we loved.

The Hacienda Del Mar was located in the hotel zone between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. The property was massive and beautiful, but the beach wasn’t swimmable because it was on the rocky side of the peninsula. The Hacienda was such a unique property with amazing views and tons of pools, so we didn’t mind that we weren’t able to swim at the beach. We loved both hotels and it just depends on what location you want to be in and what price you want to pay. The Hacienda was more affordable, but again, further away from the downtown area.

E-biking

  • Go on a humpback whale sightseeing tour - If you visit Los Cabos during the months of December-April you have a good chance of spotting some humpback whales! You can do a sightseeing tour with Cabo Adventures to see the humpback whales in the wild. We got lucky and saw so many on our tour!

  • Do a sunset cruise with Wild Cabo Tours. We were with an all LGBTQ+ tour group so we got to do a private sunset cruise and it was amazing! The sunsets in Cabo are unreal and seeing it from the sea is incredible. You can find other sunset cruises & boat tours here in Expedia.

  • Try Snuba, Snorkeling, or Scuba Diving. Los Cabos has some of the best snorkeling/diving in the world and 30% of the worlds marine life can be found in Los Cabos! We tried Snuba for the first time here and loved it. Snuba is in between snorkeling and Scuba, where you can explore deeper in the water attached to an oxygen tank via a tube, but you don’t need a license. We saw tons of fish and loved learning how to Snuba in Los Cabos! You can find snorkerling, snuba, and scuba activities in Los Cabos here on Expedia.

  • Take an authentic Mexican cooking class at Flora Farms. We learned how to make traditional salsa, guacamole, and tacos in our cooking class at Flora Farms and loved it! We also go to tour the farm and hear about all the amazing things they are doing on the property as well.

  • Try e-biking with Cabo Adventures. We went e-biking for the first time and WOW what a crazy experience! It was a lot harder to do than we thought, but we were proud of ourselves for doing it and trying something new! It was very adventurous so if you like that kind of thing, you should try it out!

  • Go shopping at La Coyota - a local shop with handmade crafts and gifts! There are so many rooms of items in here, it’s such a cool store!

  • Walk the San Jose del Cabo Art Walk. Every Thursday night there is an art walk in San Jose del Cabo with a night craft market, delicious food, and of course local art! We thought this was so cute and we loved getting to see a snippet of local Cabo culture!

  • Take a day trip to La Paz and Todos Santos - La Paz is about a 2-3 hour drive from Los Cabos and Todos Santos is about an hour an a half. Both towns are great for a day trip and you can even do both on the same day! We originally went to La Paz to swim with whale sharks and it was the most amazing experience ever! We went with The Cortez Club in La Paz.

    • While you’re in Todos Santos, make sure you visit Hotel California, yes the famous one from the Eagles song!

  • Do a Tequila and/or Mezcal tasting. We got the opportunity to do a Tequila and Mezcal tasting at the Solaz resort and we loved it! We always love trying local liquors when we travel! Ours was a private experience since we were with a group, but you can find other tequila/mezcal tastings in Los Cabos like this one on Expedia!

The LGBTQ+ Scene in Los Cabos

Los Cabos is one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly places we’ve ever been to. They are doing the work to make sure that all of Los Cabos is a friendly and welcoming destination for all. We were there during Los Cabos Pride and got to see the whole city come together to celebrate and support their local LGBTQ+ community. There is LGBTQ+ nightlight downtown, but anywhere you go in Los Cabos you will feel welcomed and included with open arms.
