How to Spend 2 Days in Bath
Compared to some other cities in England, Bath feels very medieval and European. We can definitely see why movies and tv shows like Netflix’s Bridgerton are filmed there. It’s quaint, charming, and extremely walkable even with the cobblestoned lined streets. We weren’t sure what to expect when visiting Bath, but we ended up really loving it there!
The history of Bath dates back to around 800 B.C. when a prince who had leprosy at the time was cured by bathing in the thermal waters. It has since become a place for wellness and relaxation, and you can still visit the Roman Baths and even bath in the thermal spring at the Thermae Spa. Jane Austen also lived in Bath for a few years in the early 1800s. Bath is only a little over an hour train ride from London, so you can definitely tack it on to a London trip, or it’s perfect to visit for a weekend!
Where to Stay in Bath
We stayed at Hotel Indigo Bath and we absolutely loved it! The room was gorgeous, the staff was super friendly, and it was in a perfect location. It was walkable to everything we wanted to do/see in Bath, and also only about a 7 minute walk to the train station.

Best Things to Do in Bath
Take a tour of the Roman Baths - The site where the original Roman Baths were founded in around 860 B.C. You can’t bathe in the waters there but you can explore the Roman Baths on a self-guided tour and learn about it’s history and significance. You can even taste the water at the end!
Spend a day at the Thermae Bath Spa - If you want to bathe in the thermal waters that is said to have healing properties, then you’ll want to spend a few hours at the Thermae Bath Spa! There is a beautiful rooftop pool, and other wellness facilities you have access to. We definitely think this is a must-do when in Bath.
Visit Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein - Mary Shelley lived in Bath while writing a portion of her famous novel Frankenstein, so there is an entire museum dedicated to her and the book! It was very informative on Mary’s life and the significance of Frankenstein in pop culture.
Visit some of the sites where Bridgerton was filmed on the Bridgerton Walking Tour - You get to see some some of the iconic Bridgerton filming locations while also walking around the city!
Listen to live music in Abbey Square - You can’t miss the big Abbey/Cathedral in the center of the city, and there are always live performers nearby! We saw a bunch of opera, drumming, and poetry reading as well.
Visit the Royal Crescent - The Royal Crescent is a crescent shape of Georgian buildings in Bath. It’s an iconic spot to see and great to snap a few photos!
Walk down to the Pulteney Bridge - The bridge is beautiful and a great place to visit for sunset. It looks very medieval and is also a beautiful spot for a picnic or to snap a photo!
Get lost in the winding streets and alleys - there are no specific streets we have in mind because Bath is very walkable, but every street has cute shops, restaurants, and cafe to explore! Get lost in the streets and pop into some local shops!

The LGBTQ+ Scene in Bath
Bath has a small town vibe, but because of the arts & culture scene, it feels very welcoming. There is one gay bar in Bath called Mandalyns which we loved! We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn’t very crowded, but the locals said on the weekend it gets pretty busy. As a couple, we felt very safe in Bath and even saw other queer couples walking around and holding hands as well. Overall Bath seemed very inclusive and we definitely felt like we could show PDA without being judged.
